Locus of Life

Hello!!
I am Yuko. Welcome to Locus of Life.
I grew up in Japan, where I was privileged to work for many years as a cabin crew member for a Japanese airline. Over 20 years ago, I made a life-changing decision to move to the UK to marry a British man. This transition not only marked the beginning of a new chapter in my personal life but also required me to adapt to a new way of life in the UK.
Whilst learning to navigate through my new life, I continued my airline career and dealt with the challenges of balancing work and family life. During this time, I developed a deep interest in understanding complex relationships and the emotional challenges many people face. I felt a strong desire to help others find their way through their personal challenges. I believe that everyone has a unique story to tell, and I am passionate about supporting individuals as you navigate your own life journeys.
I am a registered member of BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), and hold a diploma in psychotherapeutic counselling with a focus on Person-Centred counselling, which forms the basis of my work. This approach allows me to support clients at their own pace with honesty and compassion. I also have training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and continue to develop my skills through further training, focusing on areas that can be particularly helpful to my clients.

My Story
A significant turning point in my life came when I divorced my ex-husband. During the four years of divorce proceedings, my self-esteem and self-acceptance were severely challenged, which led me to pursue a path in counselling. Initially I wanted to understand why others did not seem to understand me, but eventually I also realised the importance of self-reflection and the need to look inward.
My strengths have been developed through training and personal experience. I married a person from a different culture and have lived in that culture for over 20 years. This has given me a unique multicultural perspective and insight, allowing me to develop a deep understanding of the challenges of living within a different culture.
I went through the divorce process in the UK and can relate to those going through the same difficult experience. However, my counselling practice is not limited to issues related to cultural differences; I support clients with a wide range of concerns, including relationship issues, stress, and the difficulty of confronting oneself, as I mentioned in "Service" on this website.
My motto is to always approach clients with honesty and compassion. I invite you to join me on this journey. Together, we can create your unique path, empower you to assert yourself, and move forward in life.
Let's create your Locus of Life together!!
